Here is the audio version of the forgiveness meditation found in my book The Life of Your Love: Calling in the Love of Your Life, page 149.
Forgiveness is not about excusing what hurt you. It’s about freeing yourself from carrying it any longer. This gentle meditation is an invitation to soften, release, and return to yourself.
You don’t have to force forgiveness. You don’t have to be “there” yet. Just come as you are, breathe, and let love do the work. Come back as often as you like, and let this be a small, sacred pause in your day.
In case you’d like the meditation in word form, here it is.
Imagine a time before this time — a time of love and connection, when you knew with all your being that you were loved. This is a time before now, maybe even before birth. Maybe it’s a time as a child, first feeling the awe of creation on a beautiful day out in nature. Maybe it’s the first feeling of love: the rush of joy from seeing your beloved. Maybe it’s the first time you knew you were one with Love, with Life. This Love fills you, surrounds you, is you.
Imagine this time, this time called right now. Bring this Love into this moment, now. In this loving place, think of someone who needs your forgiveness. This someone perhaps erred on the human level, and you haven’t yet released the bind of resentment. See yourself tethered to this person with a cord. See the cord grow taut as you try to pull away from them, and then slacken as you accept their tie to you. Now see the cord start to glow, a golden rope of light. As the cord glows brighter and brighter, see it start to disintegrate. The cord falls away, leaving only a trace of light between you and the other. You are no longer tethered to this person, only connected by light, in great love.
Imagine a time after this time. A time of love and connection. You see this per-son. You thank them for all they have taught you. They no longer hold you bound. You are free.
Feel this moment again, a sacred time of love and connection. Feel the miracle of Life, alive in you right now, coursing through every cell and fiber in your body. Feel the Love, feel the gratitude of knowing and remembering.
This meditation is a small taste of The Life of Your Love: Calling in the Love of Your Life, where you’ll find more practices, insights, and guidance to open fully to love.
